Line of Sight channel markers in Lake Gatun, Panama

Once a jungle hilltop, now an island in Lake Gatun, sports these nifty aids to navigation. Line up the vertical marks and you can be sure you're in the dredged channel and won't hit a train, or submerged village. Essentially vertical signboards with a stripe down the middle, they must be very expensive (and artistic) because there's one called Voice of Fire hanging in the National Gallery of Canada (by an American) that cost nearly 2 million bucks!
